Centre for Advancing Practice – Supported Portfolio Route - HXH1001

The MSc Advanced Practice (AP) course at the University of Huddersfield is accredited with the Centre for Advancing Practice (NHSE) as offering a programme of study that meets the standards to deliver the Multi-Professional Framework for all University of Huddersfield students after 2017. The supported portfolio route within NHSE is designed to enable the recognition of existing, experienced advanced practitioners who are currently working in advanced practice roles or who completed their training before the Multi-Professional Framework for Advanced Practice was published in 2017.
This non-credit module will support the applicants for recognition of their advanced practice role to develop their portfolio through the NHSE platform with a member of the academic AP team as an educational supervisor. This non-credit portfolio module will facilitate access to the library and the University virtual learning environment (VLE) for completion of the written requirements of a critical narrative written at level 7 and other reflective case studies.

To be eligible for these NHS England funded pathways the advanced practitioners must gain employer support and submit an expression of interest to the Centre for Advancing Practice. To be eligible to apply for the ePortfolio (supported) route, the advanced practitioners must: 

- be working within an NHS-commissioned service 
- be currently clinically working in an advanced practice role 
- have employer endorsement and support 
- be prepared to sign a learning agreement with their employer and the University of Huddersfield to demonstrate capabilities across the four pillars of advanced practice that are achievable within 12 months of completing a learning needs analysis

All employability requirements and applications to the supported portfolio route are managed by NHS England. The University of Huddersfield advanced practice academic team supports the practitioners as their educational supervisors.
