Assessment 1: Practical skills assessment

Students will be routinely assessed in phantom head on their clinical skills and be given feedback on how to develop. The aim of the formative assessments is to ensure that the students are safe and building on their competencies.

Students will provide a brief plan of what procedures their summative presentation will include

Students will present the clinical procedures in the management of a paediatric patient from a case study within the scope of a dental therapist

Assessment 1: Practical Skills Assessment - Lab

Students will be given a simulated case study and be asked to appropriately manage the carious lesion

Permanent restoration 

The module will enable you to put theory into practice. You’ll have the opportunity to practise the clinical skills of a dental therapist, using phantom head simulation. This will include restorative skills, using a range of dental materials and techniques. You’ll also study paediatric dentistry which will include extractions, pulp treatments and hall technique crowns.
