<p>This module introduces you to the structure of the human sound system. You will learn the basics of linguistic description, using mostly, but not only, the English language to illustrate. The module focuses on the fundamental linguistic concept of phonetics, starting with sounds and building up to connected speech in words and phrases. Through practical demonstrations and seminars, you’ll develop your clinical skills in analysing speech. You’ll learn fundamental transcription skills, relevant to both child and adult speech.  </p>

Compulsory for eligibility to apply for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).

Compulsory for eligibility to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
