<p>This module offers you opportunities to explore sustainability issues and develop the skills needed to evaluate the impact of business sustainability practices on the environment, and the economy. It also looks at the significance of ethics in relation to good governance, and the influence of regulations and policies on sustainable business conduct. You will consider the roles of various stakeholders and address ethical considerations in data management relevant to the accounting profession. The module further covers corporate sustainability reporting requirements and the accountant’s role in sustainability assurance and compliance.</p>

Sustainability and Business Ethics

Demonstrate an understanding of corporate sustainability

Demonstrate an understanding of data ethics principles and their relevance to professional accountants and assess the implications of regulations protecting personal and commercially sensitive data.

Explain key corporate sustainability reporting requirements and relevant regulations and evaluate the role of accountants in sustainability assurance and compliance.

Recognise the importance of good governance, potential threats and appropriate safeguards.

Demonstrate an understanding of the pillars of sustainability, their challenges and interconnections, with a focus on real-life applications.

Acquire in-depth understanding of key sustainability concepts, including their stakeholders and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, as well as the main challenges and trends related to sustainability. 

Analyse the role of regulations, policies, and guidelines in driving sustainability initiatives and assess the contributions of international organizations, governments, NGOs, and businesses in shaping sustainability practices.
