Assessment 2: Oral presentation/assessment

Feedback will be provided by the workshop tutor, following a presentation. This will provide guidance and support targeted at preparing you for the assessed presentation.

Initial feedback will be provided by the dissertation supervisor, following submission of a proposed dissertation proposal, including title. Ongoing feedback will be provided by the supervisor within the four supervision sessions hosted by the dissertation supervisor.

The full thesis will be submitted which should include an introduction, the research methods, a literature review, research aims/objective/hypothesis/importance, a critical analysis of the research topic, and recommendations/conclusion.

Assessment 2: Presentation

A presentation of the summary of the research. 

Individual Presentation. 

<p>This module is an opportunity for you to conduct a research project in an area of law that relates to your personal and professional interests. In addition to guided workshops that will help develop independent research skills, you will work one-to-one with an experienced supervisor who will help you develop and implement your research ideas. This module will not only deepen your knowledge of a particular legal topic, but also help you build your practical research, writing and oral presentation skills. </p>

Independent Legal Research Project

Be able to demonstrate the knowledge and the understanding of legal systems, legal research and referencing. 

Be able to appraise current research and pursue scholarship to critically evaluate relevant primary and secondary legal sources within the context of the chosen field of study. 

Be able to identify and define theoretical concepts, principles, and rules showing an understanding of legal theory in the chosen legal field, indicated by the research question. 

Be able to Select, justify, and research an appropriate and viable research methodology, suitable for investigating the determined research question.

Be able to present complex ideas, in an accessible fashion to an audience. 

Be able to devise and sustain legal argument, recognising ambiguity and synthesis, using tailored evidence, and being able to communicate, both in writing and orally, these to specialist and non-specialist audiences.
