On successful completion of this module students will

Demonstrate knowledge of a range of key issues, repertoires, and personnel relevant to the study of music and musical cultures in a given topic or area.

Understand a variety of techniques, methodologies, and investigative approaches suitable for musical research in a given topic or area, including practice research.
3.
Demonstrate an understanding of the ways in which musicological, creative, and cultural practices are connected in contemporary research culture.

Reflect upon and evaluate arguments, ideas, and critical debates about music and musical cultures in a given topic or area.
5.
Analyse musical or music-related texts using appropriate methodologies.
6.
Work largely independently to plan, instigate, and present an effective, organised, and appropriately-evidenced research project (PDP).
