You will be expected to apply technical skills and critical awareness drawn from this and adjacent modules. This will form the central focus of the module. Support with equipment and workshops as well as industry standard multimedia, graphics, motion design and illustration available through discipline specific studio seminars.
The module aims to promote critically reflexive professional practice. Assignments focus on portfolio development through the development of working practices that are reflective and integrated. The module is intrinsically linked to all modules within the degree programme and is explicitly serving Personal Development Planning aims.
Learning Strategy
You will encounter a range of learning methods in this module. These will include lectures where key material will be delivered and supported by readings, screenings and optional visits, seminar discussion and group tutorials.
Seminars will be based on your research for assignments, with peer group discussion used to disseminate … For more content click the Read More button below.
The learning strategy is one of learning by doing. Project work is centred on your own practice and is online and studio based.
You will develop a body of work in response to studio themes. These are defined and structured by Module Tutors to promote the integration of ideas and experimental practice in the production of distinctive projects. The approach taken in the second year is to consider Graphic Design & Animation as practices expanding from their disciplinary base. You will be supported in managing your studio practice by tutors in specific course tutor groups as well as in cross-course peer to peer groups. You will be required to engage with methodologies, critical and imaginative thinking through models, concepts and strategies. As well as live briefs, industry sponsored projects and competition entry.
Group tutorials and individual tutorials will require that you discuss your work openly with your peers and others and respond to your tutors.
Seminars and presentations promote debate and reflection. Workshops will provide creative and technical support.
