Practical Skills Assessment

Students will evaluate the requirements of their patients’ needs and expectations; use appropriate knowledge to determine the optimum corrective strategy (if necessary) for that individual.  Students will ensure the correct selection of contact lenses, fit of a contact lens; optimal visual correction and advise patients on the usage and care routines required. Students will understand the legal guidelines and responsibilities within the profession for the dispensing and compliance of contact lenses as this relates to patients.

have the knowledge to use appropriate knowledge of rigid and soft contact lens design, materials, and fitting philosophies to assess and optimise contact lens fitting and dispensing for each patient.
