Formative assessment is provided on a weekly basis during tutorial sessions for the coursework tasks and the report of the tasks in the main Coursework Report. Review of tutorial question solutions is also provided. This continuing formative feedback encourages student self-assessment and review.

Taught material will contribute an element every week to the SAIL programme (Score As I Learn) submitted via the VLE platform. 11 x 15 minutes weekly assignments. Each assignment will be worth 3%. Taking the best 8 out of 11 scores.

<p>The module equips you with the qualities and transferable skills necessary to design, model and simulate electromechanical systems, for example, servo motion control applications in machine tools, robotics and automated production equipment, &#34;more&#34; electric actuation in transportation and industry. You will explore the linkage of sub-components into a complete system and the interaction of sub-components under steady and dynamic operation.</p>

Modelling of Electromechanical Systems

Apply the scientific and mathematical principles and related disciplines - electrical / mechanical engineering, mechatronics, system identification - in the process of problem based learning with emphasis on theoretical and applied developments.

Show originality in the specification and design of a practical electromechanical system.

Assess the limitations of design, modelling and simulation of electromechanical systems for particular cases and unfamiliar problems.

Demonstrate an awareness of developing technologies related to modern electromechanical engineering and instrumentation.

Proficiently use modern modelling techniques and computer software to design and determine the performance of electromechanical systems including non-linear and dynamic effects.
