Design and implement a medical instrumentation prototype. This is individual coursework; group work is not permitted. Deliverables: report and NI MULTI SIM (or MATLAB) code.

Taught material will contribute an element every week to the SAIL programme (Score As I Learn) submitted via the VLE platform. 11 x 15 minutes weekly assignments (quizzes). Each assignment (quiz) will be worth 3%. Taking the best 8 out of 11 scores.

<p>This module prepares you for the multidisciplinary (physics, engineering and data analytics) nature of biomedical devices. You will cover different concepts associated with biomedical devices including structural design, sensors integration, signal processing, and data analysis. You will be introduced to aspects of medical instrumentation including computation fluid dynamics, micro controllers, analogue and digital signal processing methods. You will be introduced to specific considerations that are involved in designing electronic circuits, which are used for medical applications, including safety of medical electronic devices. In addition, you will be able to understand some aspects of statistical and probability theories associated with biomedical instrumentation such as data collection, summarising datasets, interpreting data, error handling in datasets.</p>
