<p>This module will provide you with opportunity to enhance your knowledge and understanding of effective palliative/end of life care. You will focus your studies on the enhancement of your knowledge, skills and essential attributes required to drive high quality care for the individual with palliative care needs along with their families/carers in a variety of health and social care settings. Emphasis will be placed on the holistic assessment of the individual with development of subsequent management plans from which to provide optimum end of life care. </p>

Nursing

Entry requirements for this course are normally:

You must be a Health or Social Care Practitioner, registered with a professional body such as the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) with at least 12 months post-registration employment.
Have an honours degree at 2:2 or above, have studied at honours level or can demonstrate appropriate knowledge and skills at honours degree standard. We will consider other qualifications and experience on an individual case basis.

Critically evaluate the complex care requirements of the person approaching end of life to be addressed by the multi professional team.

Critically appraise the contribution of research and contemporary evidence base influencing the assessment, care and management of the individual approaching end of life.

Critically understand the holistic assessment, care and management of an individual during the various stages of end of life.  

Critically reflect on the process of dying and the implications for individuals and their family and carers.

Appraise your own role and the role of the inter-disciplinary team in the assessment, care and management of the individual at end of life.
