Written assignment in the form of an annotated bibliography as low-stakes assessment for oral assessment.

Assessment 3: Oral Assessment

Students will be asked to discuss the evidence base for a particular intervention chosen in relation to their practical exam case study, using their annotated bibliography to support discussions. They will explain the reasoning behind their choice of the intervention, including reference to guidelines and critical analysis of the evidence base.

Students will perform a physiotherapy assessment based on a case study, and develop a problem list from the assessment findings.

Practical Skills Assessment

In this module you will examine the physiotherapy assessment and management skills required to effectively treat patients in an acute setting. For this module, acute care encompasses the care of patients requiring an in-patient stay in a hospital setting. You will learn to apply evidence-based skills and knowledge to assess and treat common problems occurring within the different body systems requiring an in-patient stay. You will gain insights into formulating personalised treatment plans that prioritise patient safety and optimise functional outcomes, including considerations to ensure safe discharge from the in-patient setting.

Compulsory for eligibility to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.

Compulsory for eligibility to apply for membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
