In this module, your previous respiratory and cardiovascular knowledge will be developed and applied to offer a critical awareness of your role in this clinical field. This development will provide a solid foundation for the practice and evaluation of physiotherapy within primary and secondary health care settings, including critical care environments. The module content delivery also encompasses the following key themes:• Development of manual skill, clinical reasoning and critical analysis• Understanding of the various models of health with application to physiotherapy• Health promotion and empowerment of clients• Integration of Interprofessional learning and inter-agency work within teaching and learning to reflect changing clinical practice• Development of skills to enable lifelong learning.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this module students will

Debate the physiotherapeutic management of respiratory and cardio-vascular presentations.
2.
Analyse the evidence supporting the use of treatment interventions in the management of respiratory and cardio-vascular presentations.
3.
Analyse the importance of a holistic approach to patient care when dealing with clients with respiratory and cardio-vascular presentations.
4.
Apply cardio-respiratory physiology to the clinical presentation, identifying how social factors influence disease processes.
