Practice Based Experience 5 • Students must demonstrate professional conduct and evidence of competency across the 3 key areas of clinical practice: personal development, interpersonal skills and decision making and implementation. Such competencies should demonstrate Honours level expectations (level 6).• Students should normally attain approximately 34 hours per week within each PBE so as to achieve the minimum of 1000 clinical hours for completion of the course.• The learning outcomes achieved by the student will be assessed within the context of a specific area of appropriate physiotherapy practice, indicated on the assessment form.

You will focus on how health and social care is provided in the United Kingdom (UK) and how leadership at all levels is an important part of this. This will help to prepare you for future employment and selection events..
The module content delivery also encompasses the following key themes:
• The development of skills to enable life-long learning. • An understanding of current legislation and how this effects health and social care delivery in relation to physiotherapy. • An understanding of leadership models and how this is integrated into health and social care delivery. • The empowerment of clients and the integration of interprofessional and inter agency work within teaching and learning to reflect changing clinical practice. • This module also provides you with a period of supervised practice based experience across the breadth of physiotherapy within primary care, intermediate care or secondary care settings. You will be able to apply, integrate and build upon knowledge, physiotherapeutic techniques and skills including those of health promotion and empowerment that have been learnt as a result of earlier modules on the course, thus contributing to your understanding of care and management of patients. • The placement provides you with the opportunity to attain approximately 170 clinical based practice in hours, in order to attain the required minimum 1000 hours for completion of the course. • The clinical placement within this module provide you with opportunity to develop your knowledge, understanding and practical skills related to core areas of physiotherapy practice through learning opportunities and assessments provided by a service based clinical educator in a supportive learning environment. • A qualified and experienced practitioner in accordance with professional body recommendations will provide learning opportunities, management and supervision with support from a named University tutor. The University will provide clinical educator support mechanisms to assist them in fulfilling their role. • Both the student and educator will be provided with a placement handbook providing information on the pathway, placement and process of assessment, relevant to the practice based experience.
The offer of a practice based experience in a particular subject area/ specialism may be dependent on the student passing certain subject/ specialism specific module elements of assessment. The final decision will be made in negotiation with the course leader.

Employ and maintain a high level of professional conduct and evidence of competency across the 3 key areas of clinical practice within PBE5. 

Critically appraise and demonstrate an understanding of the Physiotherapy management of patient care within PBE 5.

Apply a critical understanding of the aetiology, pathology and clinical features of conditions treated within PBE 5 and be able to justify the clinical management of selected patients based upon a thorough assessment.

Identify and implement appropriate reflective practice strategies to take ownership of learning within PBE 5.

Critically appraise relevant policy and position documents and the broader evidence base relating to health care delivery and health care leadership. 

Present the collaborative work of a group in a style suitable for a professional conference.
