• Dirty Data - Turning Evidence into Data• Approaches to Offender Profiling FBI v IP• Understanding Geography and Crime• Investigative Interviewing• Detecting Deception - Polygraph, Amnesia• The Criminal Narrative - Offenders Life Stories• Pathways to Terrorism• Classifying Crime
You will be given the chance to critically evaluate the theoretical foundations of IP and the application of IP to the Investigative Process. Various types of crimes will be presented to help facilitate an understanding into how IP can contribute to the Investigation of Crime. From Acquisitive Crime and Terrorism to Sexually motivated offences and Murder, case studies will be used throughout the module to facilitate an understanding of how this area of research relates to the real world. This module also serves as a platform to further study on the MSc in Investigative Psychology in the University of Huddersfield.The central content of this course is not restricted to studies of crimes in the UK but covers offences spanning the globe which reflects the general contribution of IP worldwide.

Lectures will be used to deliver key substantive content. Additional guided reading and activities will be set out in the module handbook to support directed study, which will also make use of the virtual learning environment.
