In this module you’ll consider contemporary British society in relation to issues of race, ethnicity and difference. You’ll explore the extent to which race and ethnicity continue to shape contemporary society, in relation to education, health, employment, government policies and popular culture such as films and music.
This module will enable you to understand contemporary British society in relation to issues of race, ethnicity and difference. It will provide you with knowledge and understanding of relevant theoretical approaches and concepts drawn from the study of race and ethnicity within the social science tradition. The module will encourage you to consider the extent to which race and ethnicity continue to shape contemporary British society, for example in relation to education, health, employment and popular culture (such as films and music). You’ll be encouraged to examine the ways in which race and ethnicity interact with other forms of social difference such as class and gender throughout the unit.
