This module enables you to develop the key skills needed for undergraduate study. You will be supported to develop the key skills required for undergraduate study, professional development and life- long learning. You will have the opportunity to develop autonomy in planning, managing and evaluating your own learning through discussions and debates in seminars. You will also be introduced to theories methods and techniques to enable you to develop your reflective practice, and to begin to examine your progress as a professional.
This module introduces you to the factors that influence the health of individuals, communities and society. You will explore the influence on physical and mental health of physiological, psychological and social factors like social class and poverty, and the interrelationships between them. You will consider different theories, perspectives and models of health with the opportunity to compare and contrast them with your own experiences and opinions. You will have the opportunity to consider the implications for the provision of health and social care services and practice. You will also be introduced to a range of data, in addition to academic sources, on the patterns and distribution of disease, health and health and social care services.
