Assessment will be based on an assignment (6000 words) that identifies and critically assesses the effectiveness of a specific and appropriate educational policy development and/or area of practice and the way it is affected by/affects race and ethnicity (topic to be negotiated and agreed between student and tutor).

<p>This module gives you scope to explore a range of issues affected by, and affecting, racial and ethnic diversity in both the formal and informal sectors of education at all levels. You will be involved in discussions of the theoretical basis for understanding diversity in terms of cultural difference and structural inequality, and you will explore the role of governments and institutions in shaping individual and group experiences of diversity as inclusion or exclusion from educational opportunities. You will use these discussions to reflect critically on the professional roles of educators in formal and informal systems, including your own where appropriate.</p>
