Assessment 1: Written draft

Formative assessment will take the form of draft submissions for the summative portfolio typically comprising: written drafts and plans, reflections, comparisons, analyses, presentations outline or actual.  Exact requirements will be provided in detail in the Assessment Brief for this module which can be found in the Module Handbook.  You can expect to receive formative feedback, to inform your summative submission, in writing via the VLE or orally.

Assessment 1: Portfolio

You are to submit a portfolio of evidence that demonstrates your developing knowledge, skills and understanding of the PSTE as holistic and therapeutic education; the relationship to the other Fields of Practice and your reflections on your personal and professional perspectives and practices. 
The portfolio will typically contain pieces of work, analysis, plans, drawings, reflective accounts/self evaluations etc

Therapeutic Education (Field 4) is the keystone (the pivotal stone at the top of an arch) of the Seven Fields of Practice.  This module will provide you with further practical experience of Rudolf Steiner’s theories of human development as a process of sensory integration.  Rudolf Steiner proposed a model of human phasic development that involves the gradual integration of twelve senses.  Phasic development is not only the basis of Steiner’s educational approach for schools but also, in SEN contexts, it provides a means by which to identify where stages of development, and thus opportunities for sensory integration relevant to each phase, may have been missed.  Once missed stages of development have been identified, a curriculum can be developed that provides opportunities for learners to revisit or re-work (re-step in RMT terminology) missed stages of development that have become barriers to learning.  Field 4 informs each of the Seven Fields of Practice because it:
<ol><li>enables identification of an individual’s barriers to learning</li><li>informs the practical activities and therapeutic interventions that will constitute an individual’s curriculum</li><li>provides a means by which to assess an individual’s progress</li></ol>
The end of module assessment requirement includes evaluating an aspect of PSTE by responding to a pre-set question.
During this module you will continue with making items of service.
