For the assessment, students will need to produce a report looking at a current social justice issue, preferably in education, and proposing how leadership can address it. Students should consider the nature of social justice, what is meant by social justice leadership and how it can be mobilised to solve the issue in question. The piece should take a critical stance, while proposing specific interventions that can have a definite impact.
Suggested structure:
Introduction: Outline the issue and introduce the key theoretical approaches that will be taken. Ensure that the central argument is clearly introduced.
What are Social Justice and Social Justice Leadership? Consider leadership in the context of social justice. Use a range of sources and ensure that a critical tone is maintained throughout.
Social Justice Leadership in Context: Provide a critical discussion of the social justice implications for your chosen issue.
Leadership Interventions: Provide a fully justified set of specific actions that social justice leaders can take to solve the issue.
