Assessment 1: Presentation

For the assessment, candidates will need to produce a ten-minute TED-style talk (with accompanying 2000 word commentary) looking at motivation, influence and how they operate in a real life situation. This is not a research project, but a reflective piece based on a genuine professional environment. In the talk , candidates should provide a discussion of theories around motivation and influence, how they connect and how they are evinced in the practice of an organisation with which you familiar. The talk should take a critical stance: it should include some proposals for improving the quality of leader/follower inter-relationships. The commentary should be a critical reflection on the talk, discussing why the theories with which it has dealt were appropriate and giving reasons for the rejection of alternatives. 
 

Presentation

<p>This module looks at two key parts of leadership - influence and motivation. You&#39;ll explore how leaders use influence and how motivation shows up in the people they lead. The module starts with key ideas around power and influence, then moves on to different theories of motivation. At the heart of this module is understanding how these two elements work together in real leadership situations.</p>
