Assessment 1: Practical Skills Assessment

This  assessment is designed to provide an opportunity to demonstrate your competence in designing and delivering a one-off career development and employability focused groupwork session and as a reflective practitioner. 
You will design and plan a 30 minute group work session aimed at fellow student career development practitioners. You will create a detailed session plan that will include Aims and Learning Outcomes and show how you intend to evaluate if you have achieved these within your session.  You will facilitate your groupwork session with your course peer    Use the groupwork assessment rubric to assess your performance and start the reflective processChoose a reflective model to structure a written reflection on your guidance interaction

Assessment 2: Presentation

For this assignment you are required to create a 20 minute presentation that outlines a proposed programme of interconnected career development and employability focused groupwork sessions (minimum of 4). 
You will record your presentation and submit that along with a detailed plan for the sessions. Your planning documents will include aims and learning outcomes and evidence of your approach to evaluating the impact of the sessions.
Your presentation will outline the  principles of carer development learning and pedagogy that have influenced your planning.  
Your planning documents will be sufficiently detailed that it would be clear to another practitioner how you intend the session to be facilitated, including timings, plus descriptions of activity and resources needed.
The proposed aims, learning outcomes and content of the groupwork sessions will be relevant and appropriate to your selected audience. e.g. Secondary school students of a specific year group, Higher education  students, Under/ unemployed graduates, Career changers, Primary school students, Employees to support retention. You will consider a range of learning activity types to support you to achieve your aims and learning outcomes and meet the learning needs of all group participants. 
You can choose to create series of groupwork session to be facilitated in person or online. 
 
 

Presentation

This module will support you to develop the knowledge and ability to design and deliver career and employability group work whether that sits within the curriculum or not.  The module also considers principles of career development learning and curriculum or programme design. 
It considers the theory, principles and practice of working with groups within a Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) setting.
The module explores techniques, approaches and a range of models appropriate for use by careers guidance practitioners, and it provides the opportunity for you to critically assess and evaluate your own skills, knowledge and values as a reflective career development practitioner.
You will consider ethical practice and professional boundaries and analyse your own professional practice.
