Assessment 1: Presentation

Lead a 15 minute seminar focussing on the key themes, assets and need of a ‘community’ that have been identified through a community profile. The seminar will include links to appropriate reading and a facilitated discussion with peers.

Assessment 2: Written Assignment

A 2,500 word assignment focussing on own learning and practice within the work placement. You will need to • Evidence leadership in a minimum of 3 ‘projects’. • Draw on a minimum of 10 reflective recordings and fieldwork report, • Make clear links between learning from a range of modules and practice (both your own practice and that of the agency as a whole).

<p>Building on your first year workplace learning activities, this module will explore different models of community development and their relevance to your 2nd year placement. You will be assessed on two pieces of coursework: the presentation of a ‘community profile’ in a seminar with your peers (40%); and a reflexive assignment (worth 60% of the module marks) which will discuss your learning and practice within the context of your work placement.</p>

successful completion of the 300 hours of placement; and students must pass both pieces of assessment

Shows a critical understanding of the principles and practice of different approaches to working in community contexts;

Undertakes and presents a community profile in a seminar setting;

Understands the relationship between theory and practice; how to ground practice in theory and how to derive theory from practice in community contexts.
