Assessment 3: Oral Assessment

You will take part in a discussion simulating a staff meeting about supporting positive social, emotional and mental health for your chosen case study child or young person. You will discuss ideas about why the young person might be dysregulated, as well as techniques and strategies that might support more regulated and positive behaviour.

You will prepare a support plan for a child or young person in a chosen case study. This will include an outline of potential challenges and issues for the young person, as well as techniques to observe and analyse behaviour alongside suggested strategies for supporting positive social, emotional and mental health..

<p>This module explores the context of and responses to a range of social, emotional and mental health needs in educational settings.  Your understanding of different techniques that can be used to promote positive social, emotional and mental health plus behaviours for learning will be developed. You will explore causes of social, emotional and mental health needs, and look at how these can lead to dysregulated behaviour as well as the way that emotional and other difficulties can be recognised in one-to-one, small group encounters and whole class contexts. You will also consider theoretical aspects of supporting positive social, emotional and mental health, alongside behaviour management. </p>

Be able to evaluate and critically analyse behaviour policies using theory about learning and social, emotional and mental health.

Be able to critically evaluate a range of techniques to support children and young people in developing skills and competencies for positive social, emotional and mental health.
