Formative assessment will take place through at least one of the following: face-to-face tutorials, electronic or other distance tutorials or discussion facility, group discussion and exercises with peer and tutor feedback

Assessment 1: Practical Skills Assessment

Students, in trios will undertake a practical counselling skills, coaching or mentoring session (approx. 30 mins). Students will also be requested to produce a transcript of the session.Prior to completion of the assessment task, students will be reminded to be mindful of any ethical or practice issues that could impact on the assessment task and where necessary discuss these with the Module Leader prior to completing the assessment

Assessment 2: Written Assignment

To submit a written assignment (3000 words) which comprises of a discussion of relevant theories, ethical issues, individual differences and skills via reflection on practical assessment task

<p>This module develops your understanding of theories concerning counselling, coaching and mentoring. In doing so, it will improve your effectiveness in responding to and working with the needs of individuals in a variety of contexts. You will have an opportunity to develop your helping skills and evaluate the use of different helping approaches. </p>
