Assessment 1: Portfolio

Working individually produce a portfolio consisting of an object-oriented analysis of a problem scenario, followed by design and implementation of an object-based software solution, with consideration of validation and verification issues (testing).

Portfolio

<p>This module allows you to explore the programming language that underpins major operating systems, applications, the Internet and the World Wide Web. Throughout this module you’ll be supported in expanding on the procedural and object-based coding skills that you have developed so far. You’ll be given an introduction to &#39;C&#39; programming leading into C&#43;&#43; programming with a push toward Objective-C. You’ll then be supported in building a client-server system where the client could be a smartphone, tablet or a desktop PC. Techniques for accessing Object Request Brokers and databases will be covered, and the concept of Design Patterns will be introduced.</p>

Understand the aims, scope and core semantics of an object modelling language.

Explain the concepts embodied in the object paradigm.

Discuss the nature of the relationships between objects within a system from a variety of perspectives.

Describe informally the semantics of a programming language which enables the writing of object-based software.

Produce object-based specifications for proposed software systems.

Evaluate the impact of the object-based approach on the software development process. 

Implement object-based specifications in software using appropriate programming language constructs.
