The work should comprise a written element demonstrating the ability to solve a range of problems involving partial differential equations by selecting an appropriate method and working through the steps of the solution.

<p>This module introduces you to partial differential equations (PDEs) and the types of systems they can model, demonstrating methods of solution of PDEs based on characteristics, transformations, and other methods. It also introduces you to basic concepts of continuum mechanics, and the Euler, Stokes and Navier-Stokes equations describing fluid flow. You will learn how to solve fundamental equations for flow fields for various special cases and investigate stability of solutions of partial differential equations in the context of fluid flow.</p>
