Assessment 1: Focused classwork observations

Formative assessment will be by means of observation of performance in workshop sessions with appropriate feedback to the student. The module will be supported with online resources and access to interactive video-based teaching materials.

Facial Anatomy - The student must create their own micro studies of the key landmarks of the face.

Human Anatomy - The student must create their own anatomy study of a male or female human.

Assessment 3: Portfolio

Retro Character - The student must re-imagine and create in 3D their favourite character from the past and reproduce in a new art style.

<p>The module will introduce you to the practical principles and theoretical knowledge of creating digital 3D characters. Examining a broad range of applications for 3D production and optimisation for games development you will create your own characters, from introductory models to complete character production pipeline.</p>

3D Character Development

Understand the key technical and design concepts underlying the development and creation of digital 3D characters.

Understand basic principles of animation and have an appreciation of different animation styles and processes and their uses.

Design and plan the production of 3D character models.

Model, UV unwrap, texture, rig and animate 3D characters for various applications.
