These challenges encompass changes to the intrinsic nature of work, increased flexibilisation with demands for new skills, the expansion of non-standard work contracts, all raising a range of ethical and practical concerns. Despite these changes and challenges, we all remain driven to find meaning in work, even more than we seek reward or promotion (Grant, 2007). In this module you will explore these issues and understand the need for people managers to be aware of the dynamic contexts of work and change, the need to develop relevant skills of analysis and response that support good organisational outcomes, as well as the importance of fulfilling and purposeful work for individuals.

Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module students will

To analyse and critically evaluate the changing global, national and local environments of organisations
2.
To analyse and critically evaluate the contexts, challenges and implications of HRM practices in organisations, including the use of business intelligence tools and analytics and their importance for business strategy
3.
To analyse the changing and competitive environments of organisations, the importance of people management strategies in shaping responses to them and their impact on a range of different stakeholders
4.
To assess different ways in which the HR professional responds to change and uncertainty and contributes to responsible management through inclusive and ethical organisational outcomes
5.
Present a critical evaluation of changing demographic, regulatory, social and technological trends and how they shape / impact on organisational and HR strategies and HR practices.
