Activities providing opportunities for formative assessment will generally be integrated into the teaching and learning process and apply to all components of summative assessment.  The nature of the formative assessment tasks used will be at the discretion of the tutor, to include for example, workshop exercises, quizzes, group discussions.

Assessment 1: Written Assignment

The assessment criteria are as set out in the Huddersfield Business School Assessment Guidelines.  The guidelines provide criteria for the assessment of both coursework’s and examinations.

Reflective Journal

<p>In this module you will explore how law deals with inequalities, not only the legal framework of non-discrimination both nationally and internationally, including its strengths and weaknesses but also how gender, race, disability interact with law.  You will do this by drawing on critical theories such as intersectionality, identity politics, discrimination as stigma and/or post-colonial theories to critically analyse legal responses to inequalities. This is an importance subject in the era of #metoo, the Black Lives Matter movements and other contemporary debates.  This module will also explore the impact of globalisation on inequalities, considering the relationship between law and various systems of oppression such as gender, race and disability.</p>

Equality Law

Effectively communicate solutions to legal problems, arguments and analysis in a variety of forms within the context of equality law.

Develop a detailed understanding of the fundamental legal principles of equality law, within aspects of their social, institutional and cultural contexts.

Demonstrate an ability to critically evaluate and apply theoretical concepts, principles and rules of equality law to complex legal problems and scenarios, with an analysis of potential arguments and clearly developed conclusions

Apply a sustained critique of potential arguments and developed conclusions to legal problems.

Develop an ability to select, critically analyse and use a range of appropriate primary and secondary legal materials, with accurate legal referencing.
