Activities providing opportunities for formative assessment will generally be integrated into the teaching and learning process and apply to all components of summative assessment.  The nature of the formative assessment tasks used will be at the discretion of the tutor, to include for example, workshop exercises, quizzes, group discussions.

The individual essay. The essay will require students to demonstrate appropriate research into an identified sector problem.

During this module the students will gain and understanding of the size and scope of the business events sector (including Meetings, International Association Conventions, Incentive Travel and Exhibitions, Corporate Hospitality will also be explored), identifying popular destinations and the variety of venues used for these events.
Business topics such as strategy formulation, internal communications &amp; employee incentives/rewards will be used to understand why these events are so important in the business context.  The current business environment will also be explored to show the importance of merges and acquisitions within the industry.
Throughout the module the Students will be asked to relate the topics to the various positions held within the industry such as corporate, venue, agency, government and association. Students will experience the planning process for these events from prospecting for business, writing proposals and presenting tenders through to conducting detailed event evaluations and continuing relationship management through CRM systems.  They will explore the coordination detail required in business events from planning to costing and delivery.
The module will be a mix of lectures and workshops, the workshops will allow the students to examine event case studies and current trends in Business events.  Guest speakers from the meetings industry will be used to support the module.
Upon successfully completing this module, students will gain an in depth understanding of the key aspects and future issues relating to business events. Students will be encouraged to identify future roles and employability opportunities.

Competently present business tenders containing detailed event proposals.
