Once this context is understood, theories of learning will be introduced. The module will critically evaluate the strength and relevance of these theories to contemporary individual and organisational learning. Various models of training and development and detailed discussion of all stages in the training cycle will give the module a practical feel. Students will understand how HRD is delivered, adds value and how we know it is adding value. The module will also consider contemporary theories of blended learning and use of technology to design and deliver learning interventions in a classroom, remote or virtual environment. None of this can be achieved without considering budgets and resources. The module will examine ways of resourcing HRD activity and consider the cost-benefit analysis that makes it all worthwhile. Different types of data will be considered within this to help practitioners provide an evidence-based view which identifies the need for HRD activity and forms the basis for evaluating its success. All the above must be considered within an ethical framework and the module will consider this. The ethics of the organisation will be considered along with specific aspects which affect the individual such as equal opportunities, career development and continuing professional development.
