The module introduces students to concept of entrepreneurship and its application to the hospitality and tourism context. It enables students to examine the role of entrepreneurship, including corporate entrepreneurship/intrapreneurship, in hospitality and tourism development in the region. Students will be introduced to the steps involved in the entrepreneurial process and analyse the influence of the external environment on entrepreneurial activity in hospitality and tourism. The module integrates the knowledge from diverse managerial functions, including marketing, finance and human resources and covers extensively the operation, organization, and management of an entrepreneurial businesses. It also covers the study of entrepreneurial organization and management of small and medium family businesses in hospitality and tourism. The module provides students with the skills and techniques to develop a business proposal for a new hospitality venture.
The purpose of the module is to familiarize students to the theories and concepts of entrepreneurship and its application in the context of hospitality and tourism. It will focus on different stages related to the entrepreneurial process, including the business model, revenue generation, business operations management as well as strategies that improve performance of a new business ventures.  Focussed on mix of theoretical exploration as well as case studies, students will get an insight of the challenges, opportunities, and risks of entrepreneurship. Students will also develop skills to examine the role of entrepreneurship in hospitality and tourism development. This will allow students to integrate entrepreneurship concepts and assess real time business opportunities.
