<p>This module introduces students to econometrics, a subject of significant importance for the study of applied economics and of the analysis of large data sets in a range of settings, capturing potentially complex relationships between variables. By the end of this course students should have an understanding of central methods used in econometric analysis and be able to demonstrate knowledge of the potential problems with such approaches and potential remedies to apply in such situations.</p>

Demonstrate use of appropriate testing techniques in order to interrogate the adequacy of a given econometric model.

Understand the potential problems with econometric techniques and how they might be identified and dealt with.


Understand a range of econometric techniques and how they might be used to identify relationships between variables.


Perform calculations to show the economic impact of estimated parameters in an OLS model.

Interpret output from regressions and draw appropriate inference.

Perform econometric analysis using appropriate software.
