<p>To introduce students to the fundamentals of organisational life looking at the sociological and psychological foundations of employee behaviour in the workplace and the implications this has on managerial practice. Introducing management theory and practice throughout the module, students will explore three major areas of organisational behaviour – individual level (personality, motivation, knowledge and learning), group level (organisational culture, team-working) and the organisational level (leadership, changing world of work, technology). An examination of these three levels will provide an insight into the world of work both for employees and future managers. </p>

Effectively communicate theories, concepts and related evidence relevant to the content of the module. 

Develop academic writing, presentation and critical thinking skills cumulating in the summative assessments within the module to support future progression within the university

To demonstrate an appreciation of the importance of critical thinking in relation to the focal topics within the module. 


Work effectively on an individual and group basis towards the achievement of objectives


Understand the importance of the individual at work and appreciate the importance of examining the individual in the workplace through such topics as personality, motivation and learning styles.

To demonstrate an understanding of the key concepts referred to in the outline syllabus, with particular reference to the foundations of individual behaviour, the changing nature of work and the implications of these changes for employees and future managers.
