Principles of Law of Contract

Identify factors which affect genuine agreement between the parties and be able to identify methods whereby the courts give effect to agreements

Extract the ratio of relevant contract cases and apply to other comparable cases

Apply contract principles to a range of everyday commercial activities in order to identify where a valid contract exists

Understand the effect of contracts on third parties

Identify appropriate remedies, the circumstances in which they apply and the way in which they are assessed

Identify particular types of clauses within contracts which are likely to cause difficulties

Understand the basic elements of contract law, so that he/she is aware of what is required to form a valid and binding contract

Research information from secondary and primary sources

Understand those factors which affect the validity of a contract

Identify the ways in which contracts may be terminated

Manage material for easy access for research and revision

Analyse simple contractual situations in order to identify defects and advise on appropriate remedies

Prepare a written analysis of a problem which identifies the appropriate contract principles and how a solution is reached on the basis of the application of those principles
