Students will undertake a series of formative exercises in the practical sessions covering practical engineering, system design and video and lighting systems.

Assessment 1: Portfolio

This assignment aims to provide an opportunity to show skills in the proposal of a solution to a single venue live event. The proposal should include a PA system suitable for the venue, FOH and monitor consoles with appropriate signal distribution, a video system, show file for a contemporary digital console and integration of recording and broadcast facilities. It is expected that you consider network solutions for the overall control of your event.

Assessment 2: Project Work

Working as part of a team of up to 5 students, plan and deliver a recorded live event production that includes both visual and audio elements. There should be one track performed per team member. Students will be required perform multiple roles within the team, engineering at FOH and Monitors as part of the event.

Project Work

<p>In this module you will build on the Live Music Production Module, broadening out to cover a range of systems and roles undertaken in live events. You will explore digital consoles in detail, focusing on monitor, front of house and broadcast mixing. You will also look at PA system design, developing skills in the application of line array and point source systems. The module also focusses on systems used in live events, with digital audio networks, video and lighting systems all explored in detail. Broadcast streaming systems will also be explored, resulting in you streaming your own event at the end of the module.</p>
