Assessment 1: Written assignment (coursework)

Students identify a language-related problem/issue relating to a particular industrial, enterprise or workplace setting and provide an outline of the data and analytical methods needed to address it (equivalent to 1,000 words).

Students write an application to an employment opportunity demonstrating how their enterprise, industry or work-related project and wider skills gained during their degree are applicable to graduate-level positions.

Assessment 1: Project Work

Students present a report for a non-academic audience, providing a linguistic-based solution to a language-related problem they have identified in a particular enterprise, industry or work-related setting.

Project Work

The module provides you with the opportunity to explore functions of linguistics and the English Language within industry, enterprise or workplace contexts. You will receive tailored guidance from work placement co-ordinators and the careers service to understand how your learning translates into successfully applying for jobs or other employment opportunities. You will have the opportunity to apply this learning in a work placement or enterprise project, and will practice writing applications for graduate-level careers.
