Assessment 1: Portfolio (including examples)

The formative element of this module is ongoing, with interim deadlines as per the production calendar and workflow of the fiction film project(s) and specialism(s) you have elected to pursue. These project and role-specific individual formative submissions may include a wide range of items, e.g. a draft casting notice.

Assessment 2: Portfolio

You will submit a CRS which evidences that you have explored and implemented a range of research, methods, and practical skills. Examples of said evidence may include universal items (e.g. a reference list inclusive of reading and viewing) and a diverse range of craft-specific items, e.g. previsualisation outputs.

Critical Reflective Summary

Assessment 3: Oral Assessment

This assessment is comprised of production team colleagues’ evaluation of each individual student’s contribution to the final film. The production group&#39;s combined numerical score for an individual student&#39;s contribution will be supported by prepared individual verbal feedback from each production team colleague. Said feedback will be delivered and discussed in a roundtable conversation led by academic staff.

With genre(s) and craft-specific research and creative intent, you and your production group will develop and deliver a negotiated short fiction film output for external audiences.

Short Fiction Film

As you progress toward your final year, this module aims to help you refine your professional practice and evolving suite of individual moving image specialisms through the creation of your first project intended for external (e.g. film festival) audiences. Following a pitching and greenlighting process, you will collaborate with a production group on said film across research and development, preproduction, production, postproduction, and distribution strategy.

Be able to demonstrate an intermediate (Level 5) standard of departmental specialist execution  

Be able to successfully collaborate with internal and external project colleagues/cast on the production of a fiction film 

Be able to display an intermediate / Level 5 understanding of the processes of preproduction, production and postproduction within and beyond chosen specialisms
