A self-reflective and critical commentary on intentions, outcomes and creative process which also demonstrates understanding of the Creative Writing marketplace.

This is a ‘going public’ module where you will be encouraged to find a professional outlet for your work. This may be a competition, a magazine, an anthology, or other source. You will be taken through the process of editing and polishing your work to a professional standard and taught how to put together a proposal to sell your work. You will be expected to research outlets for your writing and present your findings to the group. You will be expected to behave as though you are seeking publication. The production of the detailed report explaining your choices, alongside the creative portfolio you have submitted, is integral to this module.

be able to effectively communicate the outcomes of ‘going public’ and reflect upon the processes involved. These may include: how to research the current market, how to target and approach an outlet, and how to present work specific to the publication or other professional outlet.

be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the context of production and publication of creative work.

be able to produce (with tutorial support) a substantial piece / portfolio of creative writing to a professional standard with a professional publication or other professional outlet in mind. 

be able to edit and polish creative work to a high standard.

be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of how to find a professional outlet for their work.
