Apply understanding of techniques of rhetoric, structure, argument, exemplification and style to communicate, explicate and persuade.

be able to understand and realise the potential of the essay as a genre to convey ideas and stimulate debate

Produce writing that synthesises a distinctive voice with prescribed conventions. 

Plan an argument with a clear and logical structure. 

Use bibliographic skills including citation of sources and use of conventions in the presentation of scholarly work.
