 A 1000 word close reading of a literary text from a particular genre, identifying key characteristics of the genre as represented in the text.

Genre Mapping Project which engages with the early manifestations and later innovations and adaptations of a specific genre, highlighting key texts. Mode of presentation may include oral/dramatic, electronic, visual (material) or other modes as appropriate.

This module will introduce literary texts representing established literary genres that form the foundation of Western literary tradition.  It will also explore how these genres have been adapted, modified, and reformed in later periods and across cultures. It will explore literary conventions and innovations, along with concepts and terms used in the analysis of literary texts.
