Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this module students will

Understand the financial markets and various type of instruments including the gilt, options and futures markets
2.
Recognise the measure and value of the risk and return and be aware of the relationships between them and their relevance in the concept of diversification and portfolio theory
3.
Be able to contrast the theoretical approaches to portfolio management with reported practice.
4.
Be aware of the opportunities and dangers offered by international diversification, and to explain some of the available hedging techniques.
5.
Be able to design a portfolio of financial instruments to meet the needs of managers concerned with risk management
