Practical Skills Assessment

By studying biology, learners will learn facts, specialist vocabulary, biological principles, concepts, theories, models and the scientific method in order to apply them to issues that encompass ethical, social, economic, environmental, cultural, political and technological problems.  Throughout this module, learners will become familiar with the processes required to learn a scientific subject. Some of those processes include collecting evidence, explaining, theorising, validating, interpreting, synthesizing as well as planning to test an idea.
This module is designed to encourage learners to develop an interest and enthusiasm for the subject which may transcend to furthering the study of biology as well as give learners key transferable skills for industry.  Learners will have the opportunity to appreciate how society makes decisions about scientific issues, and how knowledge and understanding of biology contributes to the success of the economy as well as impacting on society.
Learners will develop and demonstrate a deeper understanding of the skills, knowledge and understanding of biology and how each specialist field relates to one another.
