Formative assessment will be by means of weekly tests on the previous week’s input and observation of performance, with appropriate feedback from the tutor.  The students will also initially use case studies to develop their knowledge and abilities. The exact nature of the case studies and tests will be at the discretion of the module tutor.

The aim of this module is to further develop skills in the methods and techniques of research as undertaken in the academic environment.  Students will be introduced to a variety of sources relevant to their specialist subject area and will consider the application and limitation of techniques for understanding and interpreting qualitative and quantitative data.  Students will be introduced to the methods and techniques of empirical research as well as secondary data sources.
The module will also cover common mathematical techniques for managerial decision-making which are used in many business environments.
