A formative assessment and feedback session will be included for each piece of work prior to submission of the summative assessment.

Assessment 1: Portfolio

You will be required to submit a portfolio of individual and/or group projects cumulatively comprising 10,000 words or equivalent.  Although some assignments within the portfolio may demand group work, you will be given an individual mark for each assignment, information will be given in the assignment brief.

This module aims to develop your intermediate knowledge and skills relevant to professional practice within the global fashion industry.  It will extend your experience of, and confidence in, the theoretical and especially practical applications of buying management, brand marketing and creative direction within contemporary fashion organisations.  Building on your foundation knowledge, these disciplines will be examined in context of international fashion consumers, manufacturers and retailers and incorporate the role of the media and other collaborative organisations and individuals in the industry.
The module will further explore the diverse and dynamic nature of practices and activities within the fashion industry how they are managed within fashion businesses. These will be contextualised and made relevant to the student’s named degree pathway. In particular, students will be encouraged to engage, to intermediate level, with the practice of fashion buying management, fashion brand marketing and fashion creative direction, including for example:
<ul><li>Fashion Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)</li><li>Applications of branding and promotional communications in fashion marketing.</li><li>Contemporary visual, creative and other means of fashion communication.</li><li>Strategic management decisions and practices in fashion organisations</li></ul>
Careful consideration of the sustainability of resources and practices, and their ethical implications will be encouraged.  Taught content will be placed in an international context and will compliment and encourage your professional and personal development. 
A constructive and forward-looking ethos underpins the module. In particular, students will be encouraged to collaborate with each other, share knowledge, expertise and practice in a learning environment that wherever possible will simulate the experience of fashion industry professionals.
