You will expand upon, develop, and make tangible ideas resulting from the Research & Development module and that reconcile issues relating to concepts, aesthetics, working context and feasibility of use in the production of multimedia artefacts and virtual environments, physical installations, photographic output, video and motion graphics works animations or other relevant media. The Advanced Studio takes place over the entire final year. You will develop, prototype, and produce, a response to a brief or projects formulated as a part of the Research & Development module. You will be expected to apply technical skills and critical awareness drawn from adjacent modules, specifically the Research and Development module as well as Theory as Practice. You are also expected to draw upon your learning in other modules undertaken over the course of your academic history. The module both encompasses and supports diverse and interdependent areas of practice and you will be expected to utilise linguistic, temporal, visual, spatial and material forms as aspects of the process. Through this module you will build upon existent technical independence, which must satisfy established pre-negotiated targets.  This will be developed and tested throughout your production of a comprehensive and cohesive body of work that reconciles concepts, aesthetics, working context and feasibility of use. Collaborative working practice with external agencies is encouraged and if pursued should form part of negotiated self-directed project management. The module aims to promote critically reflexive and innovative professional practice.  Assignments focus on portfolio and professional development through the evidencing of working practices that are reflective, highly creative and technically innovative.  In this the module is intrinsically linked to all modules within the degree programme and is explicitly serving Personal Development Planning aims.

Learning Strategy

There will be stringent professional requirements of documentation of process and presentations at key project stages with an emphasis upon self-directed time management. The practical interpretation of the brief formulated as a part of the Research & Development module will provide the context and focus of this module which culminates in a final honours exhibition / screening of a cohesive and comprehensive body of work.
