Recognise the concept of whole life costing and its impact on sustainability and facilities management

Complete various commercial management tasks such as cash-flow forecasting; whole life costing, budget forecasting, interim and final valuations, cost – value reconciliations 

Conceptualise the reasons and circumstances of construction claims from the contractor and employers’ perspective

Prepare, examine and respond to construction claims within a range of problem scenarios.

Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the various risk and value appraisal techniques and indicators for commercial management

Demonstrate the ability to use CAD/measurement software for quantification work and handle 5D data in BIM models 

Recognise advanced quantification methods of elements of industrial / commercial buildings (different structures, complex roofs, piped works, external works etc.) and examine relevant standard methods of measurements 

Apply appropriate techniques quantify various aspects of commercial buildings using appropriate standard methods of measurements  

Assess the principles and various techniques for financial management and payments at construction stage, contractors’ tender pricing, tender evaluations, management of sub-contractors and the supply chain
