Formative assessment will be comprised of a series of multi choice online tests covering various aspects of construction disputes and claims. Feedback will be given on these tests with the intention of preparing the students for the two summative assessments.

A scenario based evaluation report on construction claims from contractors’ and clients’ perspectives, with emphasis on the impact of using alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in the construction industry.

Written Assignment

Complex work and legal relationships between various stakeholders exist within the construction industry. Failure to identify and fulfil individual responsibilities by these stakeholders will adversely affect relationships and may ultimately lead to costly and time-consuming disputes and litigation.
Within this context, this module aims to explore the nature and causes of disputes between contracting parties in           the construction industry and the various mechanisms for dispute resolution. In doing so, this module will help developing your knowledge on contract law and civil procedures. It also introduces alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and relevant laws within the context of the construction disputes.
