The formative element of this module is ongoing. You will receive feedback on your portfolio of work/performance within the module on a regular basis.

Project Work

Assessment 1: Portfolio

You will be expected to produce a portfolio comprising of 1 or more summative project submissions which comprise:
A collection of visual and contextual research, drawings and textile design development work collated in an appropriate format (e.g. sketch book/s or sheets). This will be supported by technical notes and critically reflective annotation that demonstrates the relationships between idea generation, design development and final outcomes.A range of final textile designs with appropriate presentation.

Portfolio

This module introduces the subject of visual research and development for textile design, and its relationship to costume. An analytical approach will be encouraged to promote the skills of observation, evaluation, selection and combination of methods to record information. You will develop a personal, critical and evaluative approach, together with an aesthetic sensibility.
A series of practical activities will introduce basic skills in a variety of drawing and textile techniques, in order to develop your ability to creatively explore textile design for costume. Knowledge of colour and fabric types and classifications will also be explored as part of this process.

have knowledge of materials, processes and techniques to creatively produce experimental textile designs for costume.
